Sunshine Blog Award - On Books & Me {+ my first vlog!}

Last month, Callie from Through Clouded Glass nominated me for a Sunshine Blog Award!

Callie has a beautiful blog where she writes about parenting, books, and walking with Jesus (check it out here). She gets through an amazing number of books and has some great book recommendations. I seriously don't know how she does it with three kids!

I thought this would be a good opportunity to post my first vlog (which autocorrect keeps changing to "blog" - stop it, Autocorrect, I know what I'm doing!!!) - basically a video blog where you see me talking instead of reading what I write.

I'm a little nervous about posting a video of me talking for the whole World Wide Web to see, but I hope you enjoy it. It's not perfect, but done is better than perfect, right? And if you like the vlog idea, let me know - maybe I'll make it a regular thing.

You also get to see some of the scenery around our house, and our landlady makes a cameo appearance as she waters the plants - see if you can spot her! (there also might be a blooper at the end, in which you hear me imitating the mic check we hear every time a wedding plays next door...counting to three in Khmer and saying hello multiple times being the standard wedding mic check.)

Here are the questions I answered -

What's your favorite book genre?

What's your favorite time of year and why?

What made you want to start blogging?

Favorite time to read?

How do you find out about new books? (Goodreads, blogs, friends, etc)

Beach, mountains, or in between?

What is the best movie you have seen lately?

Do you mark (highlight/underline) things in your books such as a good quote?

Predictable books or more mysterious?

What is your favorite snack?

What is your favorite book of the year so far?

Thank you, Andrew, for recording this video outside in 100+ degree weather and putting it all together. I'm hopeless at that; we make a good team! Next time, it will be even more awesome! Because I won't fidget with the microphone the whole time.

And in the spirit of passing on the torch,

I nominate Bri from She Is Woven and Grace Cho for the next Sunshine Blog Award!

Grace recently redesigned her site and has been sharing some awesome encouragement for women, as well as a thought-provoking recent post on being Asian-American in the light of the race riots in Ferguson. And Bri leads my Influence community group and always writes posts that bring me back to relying on Jesus in my mothering.
